The Reign of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords

1 Corinthians 15:25 - For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

Jesus Christ is called the 'King of Kings' and this reference was first pointed by Paul in his letter to Timothy. This title king of kings was used for an emperor and was used for kings like Artaxerxes (book of Ezra), Daniel used this title for Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon and in fact the Lord Himself used this reference for Nebuchadnezzar by the mouth of Ezekiel.

In the book of Revelation the Rider on the white horse holds the title of King of Kings and Lord of Lord and the Rider is revealed as the Word of God.

Earlier in the same book of Revelation the Lamb is also referred to as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and along with His Saints He wars against Satan the Beast and his appointed ones and defeats them. This again refers to Jesus coming on the Judgment Day along with His Angels and gives a clue that the Angels are His Saints. Thus the army that defeats Satan or crushes him is fully a man army headed by the Son of man Jesus Christ.

Most Christian Churches expect Jesus to come as man and sit on a throne and rule the world for a thousand years before Satan is set loose. The irony is that they also believe in the fact that His Kingdom and reign is eternal so why the period of thousand years?

In the book of Revelation the Word of God clearly says just moments before judgment on the Judgment Day along with the shout of the Lord all earth (physical world), Grave and even Hell (the levels below this physical creation) is completely destroyed and ceases to exist. If these all cease to exist then how can this world be the eternal Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

We need to understand the concept of God pressing as king came during the time of Samuel when the Lord led His people and they did not need any king. But when they wanted to be like the worldly people and have a human king they had indirectly rejected the Lord from leading them and ruling over them although they said the Lord could do so through the one He choose as king over them.

The Lord was not a human king and did not desire to be one. But when they chose man over God then God desired them to reject man king and send them a Servant (Jesus) to be King. Jesus never desired to be king of this world and we see the time when He fed the five thousand men (and women, and children) with five loaves and two fishes He escaped from the midst of them for He came to know that they wanted to make Him king by force. Also when He was being crucified Jesus Himself said that His Kingdom is not of this world.

To make man reject the concept of king, Jesus became the Servant King. The only Kingdom which is eternal is the Heavens, the top three levels which are above this physical creation which will be redefined when the Son comes in glory on His Glorious Throne (not a seat).

The thousand years of rule is explained by John of Revelation and has to do with the expanding Kingdom of the Word of God in the hearts and minds of the people of God. This rule had begun from the time the Protestant movement started and the Word of God was given unto common man. It was from the 1400-1500 AD that the Word became a living Word among God's people and evangelism started.

God had given man dominions over earth (physical creation) and all that dwell on it and man was not aware of this authority. When man sinned he was under the yoke of sin and death which was in the hands of Satan. Without any son of man of authority Satan could rule these areas. Jesus proved Himself to worthy as man to take authority and through Him we again come to the knowledge of the authority God has given us.

In today's message the grammar of the word reign tells us Jesus Christ as man, no doubt reigns over this world and has authority over all things of this world, even over the fallen angels that were thrown down, but as the Living Word He is actively working to reign in the hearts of His people and as God He is come into take His eternal Kingdom to its glorious place.

So we see the only area of working where Christ is to take total control as King is in our hearts and minds. So if we want His Kingdom to come in its fullness we need to start by making Him (the Word of God - the Living Bread) as King on the throne of our hearts and the throne of our hearts is our will. If our will is the Will of God then we can say the King has come into our hearts, if the top most desire of our hearts is the Will of God then we can say the King has come into our hearts, if all that we do is truly according to the Will of God then we can say the King has come into our hearts.

Let us not delay the Kingdom of God and let us start first from our own hearts.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, You are almighty God and everything that exist bows down to your Name. There is no place in Heaven that You do not rule, even in Hell it is your Angels which have charge of all things. The only place that delays the fullness of your Kingdom to come in glory is your coming as King in the hearts of your people. Lord, as your Truth gets rooted in our hearts, we are sure to come into the knowledge of who we are and the authority we have. You called us Princes of God (Israel) even before the coming of Jesus as man for You gave us authority at the beginning. As man Jesus You revealed the Truth to us and bought us to the knowledge of our authority. Lord, we prayer your Kingdom come in glory and You rule in the hearts of your people soon...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.
