The Peacemakers

Matthew 5:9 - Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.

Today the Lord is telling us about being peacemakers so that we become sons of God. To become peacemakers we need to understand the meaning of peace.

Peace is defined as - the absence of hostility or conflict.

Why do need peace?

The main reason we need peace is because peace allows true prosperity. It is only in times of peace that life prospers in all areas of goodness. Evil does not grow when peace exist therefore the first thing evil does is create hostility and conflicts.

Now comes the amusing part. There are many people who pray for world peace and peace of a country. These people actually make foolish prayers which will never get answered. They need to first read the Bible before making such prayers.

The Bible clearly talks of calamities, destructions, persecutions, evil manifesting greatly especially during the last days. If these people's prayers were to be answered then the Lord will need to release the second edition of the Bible with 40percent of the Bible changed. Making such prayers is as good as praying to the Lord to bring Satan to repentance!

The Lord knows Satan will never repent even though he has been given due time, therefore his end after the period is already written.

The word 'nation' in the Bible does not mean country but a group of people with something common; like their belief, or place of habitation, or an ancestor, etc...

The Bible says peace comes from the Lord. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace. The word prince translated from the Hebrew word also means ruler and keeper. Peace actually comes from the Lord and it is only through man Jesus Christ that we can keep this peace in our lives. Therefore to have peace we need to have the Lord God and have Jesus Christ in our lives. The only way this world or our country can have peace is when they have the Lord God and Jesus Christ in them. The first is impossible but the second could be.

Today's scripture does not talk about people who promote worldly peace where they ask others to turn their face away from problems or bury their heads into to grounds like ostriches hoping all problems will disappear. Today's scripture talks of people who promote true peace, in other words promote the Lord Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace and these people are called sons of God.

There may be strive in this world but we still can have peace in us if we have the Lord Jesus Christ in us. We can also have peace in our country only if we have the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lord of our country, which means the people of the country accept Him as their Lord and Master. There is no way perfect peace can exist in our country when we have people who worship idols and manmade gods for they cause the wrath of God to come on them and their surroundings. The more people of our country come to the Lord the more peace we can have in our country.

If we want to be peacemakers and be called sons of God we need to let people know the Author and Keeper of peace.
