Out of Egypt - the Spirit leads us

Haggai 2:5 - the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

In the books of Moses the Lord did great and mighty things to get His people out of Egypt. Was He really so against the Egyptians that He wanted to separate His people from them?

There are scriptures, in which the Lord calls the Egyptians His people; so then why did God orchestrated such an event in the story of the deliverance of His people?

The Egypt which the Lord wants to deliver His people is not the land Egypt but the spiritual state Egypt. The word Egypt means 'double way' - the land of Egypt which the Lord delivers His people from is the double life they live. All God's people know God, and deep within them is a desire to know Him and to be with Him just like a child desire its mother. But their compromise with the world and weakness to their lust has caused them to live a life which keeps them far from God. Scriptures say the Israelites knew God and were worshippers of Yahweh but still they also worshipped the gods of the Egyptian people. It was for this reason the Lord sent the plagues which were actually against the gods of the Egyptians. Their gods did not exist but the plague bought down the understandings and regards the people had for these man made gods.

Even before the people crossed the Red Sea which symbolized their baptism in water we see the Pillar of cloud and fire was with them. It was the Pillar that led them and protected them not only to cross the Red Sea but throughout their journey till they reached the river Jordan to cross onto the Promised Land.

The story of the Israelites is a shadow of a believer's life. He brings His people out of the double way of life; He guides them and protects them by His Spirit. Since He has shown this in the shadow, would He not do it in real?

Let us not doubt the Lord but always keep our eyes focused on our Pillar of cloud and fire, the Holy Spirit of God. He will guide us and protect us through our journey until we come to our Promised Land - Heaven.

The Israelites did not receive what they were given for they never understood the Lord and had their eyes on earthly things. We the true Israelite, children chosen by God by Faith will surely receive our Promised Land, for our Passover Lamb was not an animal but an unblemished eternal sacrifice - the only Son of God.

Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD your God, he it is that does go with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you.

Joshua 1:5 - There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with you: I will not fail you, nor forsake you.

Exodus 13:21-22
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

1 Corinthians 9:1-11
1 Moreover, brothers, I would not that you should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized to Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be you idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur you, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened to them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the world are come.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
